Import from CSV file

To import contact records from a CSV file, the first step is to determine if MioWorks knows how to handle the specific type of file you are providing.  MioWorks can take the native file if you have exported the standard CSV file from:

Under the “Contacts” tab there is a box on the right hand side called “Import”.  Click on the link for “Import from CSV”.  Then follow these instructions:

import_csv

Step 1 – Browse for the CSV file on your computer

Step 2 - Select the contact type for all of the imported contact records (this will apply to all)

Step 3 – Add tags to help you identify these contacts.  MioWorks automatically adds a tag to help you identify this import.  You may update, remove or add to the tag.   A tag is not necessary, it’s just a good idea to use at least one just in case there is a problem later. For example, if you notice there is a problem with the import or you imported to the wrong contact type, you could filter on the tag and then easily delete all the contact records.

Step 4 – Select a MioUser who will be considered the owner of these contact records.  This applies to all contacts in the import.

Step 5 – Click import to being the import process.

You will see a listing of the contacts that were successfully imported into MioWorks.  Please note that duplicates (same first name and same last name) are not imported or merged, they are ignored.

If you are using a CSV file from another source such as an export from a database or other application, you will need to manipulate the file into the MioWorks CSV format.   You can download the MioWorks CSV template here.  Once you have an appropriately formatted CSV file you can follow the instructions above.
